TikTok has introduced a new tool that can help marketers refine their digital marketing campaigns to reach different demographic targets. Called “Insights,” this tool presents relevant data in bite-sized pieces that can increase your understanding of your target audience’s interests, behaviours, and general feelings about brands.
On Insight’s landing page, you see a number of tiles with various pieces of data about the behaviours of different demographic groups around the world. You choose your desired location from the dropdown box on top. Then, on the left-hand side, you check on the filters to customise the data to what is most relevant to you.

By applying the appropriate filters, you can tailor the results to what is the most relevant for your campaign. For example, you can find out that Gen Z TikTokers in Australia are 2.4x more likely than other platform users to post and tag an apparel or accessory brand after they purchased a product. There are endless combinations of filters that you can set in order to zero in on the specific data you need. The “Source” button at the bottom of each piece of data tells you where the data came from.
The tool is free to use. If you have a small or medium-sized business and are trying to use the TikTok platform to gain more exposure among your target audience, the Insights tool can be a valuable resource for you. With the insights you gain, you can learn what is currently popular with your target audience and create an effective marketing campaign that has a good chance of success.
